Overview
Colorado Technical University is a for-profit university that was created in 1965 and is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The University is owned by the Career Education Corporation. It has over 15,000 students enrolled in several campuses that include Colorado Technical University Online, as well as physical locations in Colorado Springs, Denver, Kansas City, Pueblo, and Sioux falls. The college was originally created to train ex-military personnel in technical subjects that include radio repair and television.
Programs
This University offers distance learning programs in which students can obtain an associate, bachelor, master, or doctoral degree in many fields that include Criminal Justice, accounting, computer engineering, finance, computer systems, forensic investigation, information technology, business administration, electrical engineering, homeland security, digital systems security and many more. Once students complete their desired online continuing education, they can pursue various jobs in the highly competitive workforce of today.
The University also has the Department of Military Education that allows members of the armed forces to have access to a flexible schedule to earn an online degree. Military students will be aided by a Military Admissions Advisor that has a clear understanding of military protocols and procedures to ensure that you are enrolled properly. Prior military experience can be considered as previous credits earned towards a degree. Additionally, certain fees are waived and textbooks and course materials are included in the tuition. Accreditation
Colorado Technical University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The University is also accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology for the Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering programs it offers. The Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs has accredited the University for its Surgical Technology Program. The Coordinating Board for Higher Education and the Missouri Department of Higher Education has approved the Kansas City Campus to operate. These accreditations enable the university to bestow various online degrees.

Admissions
The University’s admission process requires student to submit an application with the applicable $50 fee. Once the college has received and processed the application, a telephone interview will take place which allows students the opportunity to ask any questions and for the academic advisors to gather the necessary information. After the interview, official documents from prior educational institutions will be required to further corroborate the application. For students whose first language is not English, a TOEFL exam is needed with a score above 500.
